it took me so much time
before i could decide
and just as i lowered my guard
you vacated my heart

it took me all this time
to build courage, swallow pride
and just as i spoke the word
you vanished, left unheard

it took me all my life
to learn i made you mine
the truth was invisible
this lesson, miserable

taken, the last of my life
undefeated is time
to the wind, this last word
may it be found and heard.
