-Fight the Fade-

depression
it’s like the color in everything i see
bleeds out
and now all that’s left are shades of gray
then my peripheral vision
is enveloped by shadows
insoluble
and now out of tears to run down my face

every step i take
every move i make
is to keep on fighting
every thought i think
every shot i drink
is to keep from writhing (writhing in pain)
every breath i take
every heartbeat made
is to keep on fighting
fighting the fade

my expression
pleasing to the naked eye
deaf to the signs of suicide
the clock continues to tick
my digestion
when there’s nowhere else to run
just enough for my nerves to go numb
enough cures to keep me sick
my confession
the nightmares begin when i
sit up and open these eyes
degrees darker than yesterday
my projection
one day i will see darkness before death
the difference, i can only guess
unless i find another way

every step i take
every move i make
is to keep on fighting
every thought i think
every shot i drink
is to keep from dying (dying in vain)
every breath i take
every heartbeat made
is to keep on fighting
fighting the fade.
